Our First Three Days!

We had a busy and exciting first three days in room 8! One really important thing we started working on was building our classroom community. We read the book Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud, and we talked about how everyone can "fill buckets" by being kind, friendly, and respectful to each other. As a class, we set a goal of filling our classroom bucket TEN times by the end of the first three days. Guess what? We did it! Our special reward for being such kind and amazing first graders was popsicles! The students really enjoyed this activity and they decided that they would like to continue filling our classroom bucket next week!

The students did so many new things this week in first grade, but I was so busy that I forgot to take a lot of pictures! Here are some pictures of our pattern block explorations, and I will try to take more pictures this week!

Check out the name tags the students finished up this week! They started these name tags at the end of last year during Step-Up Day. These name tags will go alongside self-portraits that the students will be creating within the next few weeks. They put their best effort into these and can't wait for them to be displayed in our classroom!
